NAME THE RESTAURANT CONTEST AT FORT LANGLEY NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

FORT LANGLEY, BC, April 30, 2009 – Help Parks Canada find an inspiring new name for the restaurant at Fort Langley National Historic Site! In time for its fourth season, the staff at the Fort would like to give the restaurant a new name that reflects its unique setting within Fort Langley National Historic Site’s walls. The name should celebrate the fascinating stories of Fort Langley’s history, as well as the food served to hungry visitors.

To enter, please email your idea to: fort.langley@pc.gc.ca by Friday, May 8, 2009 at 3:00 pm. The winner will receive two tickets for Dinner & A Historic Village Walking Tour.

Our new Historic Village Walking Tours will take place every Saturday from June 27 until August 29. Tickets include dinner in the Fort Langley restaurant, a Historic Walking Tours in the village of Fort Langley, and coffee or tea at a local café after the tour. Three tour themes, geared toward adults, are scheduled including: Fort Langley’s Churches, The Mavis Family, and the Hudson’s Bay Company Farm.

Fort Langley National Historic Site’s restaurant will be open 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekends in May and June. In July and August, the restaurant will operate Sunday to Thursday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Janice Uebelhardt, the restaurant manager, serves a delicious menu of heritage style meals, baking, and beverages, using food from local sources whenever possible. Group catering is also available.

Help us find the right name for the restaurant, an exciting new feature of your summer visit to Fort Langley NHS. To learn more about Fort Langley National Historic Site, see our website: www.pc.gc.ca/fortlangley
