The Fort to Fort Trail
I’ve just recently transferred to Langley, from Terrace B.C., and have to admit, my main concern was whether I could still enjoy the great outdoors that I became so accustomed to.
I had the great escape almost from my backdoor. Within minutes, I was hiking a trail, or exploring on my mountain bike. One of the many trails the Langley residents told me about was the “Fort to Fort Trail”. I’m already writing about it, because I now know my concerns were needless.
The Fort to Fort Trail is a MUST experience when in Langley. Depending on where you start, the trail is about 10 km in total length. If you walk it, allow for approximately 3 hours. If you bike, 1 hour. I couldn’t help but stop along the way because the wildlife and natural scenery along the banks of the Fraser River and Bedford Channel are quite spectacular. The trails are lined with wildflowers and the massive moss covered trees take me back to the trails in the northwest of B.C. There is some interesting history here as well.
I’d recommend you plan your trip to end at the Fort Langley National Historical Site. You get a real sense of the magnitude of the presence of the Hudson’s Bay Company and the farming and trading that once took place here.
